An excellent match against the Olicanians, on their first visit to Bures on tour.

Having lost the toss and being asked to bat, Olicanians made swift progress as the Bures bowlers toiled in the summer heat. At one point, a score of 250+ seemed likely and Bures were happy to reach the tea interval having restricted their opponent to 227.

After the resumption, fine all-round batting peformances put the total within reach on an excellent batting wicket, with Chris Ayers (35), Derrick Messent (49) and expatriate Kent resident Chris Pattinson (55) dominant. Bures edged home with two overs to spare and the important business of the day was conducted in the public bar of The Swan. With The Skipper in charge of transport of the Olicanians back to their hotel, an extended stay in the pub was deemed appropriate with a number of members of both clubs emerging the following day with sore heads.
