Match Report - Bures vs. Long Melford 17/09/06
Bures 239 for 7 (35 overs) (Joe Smith 56, Paul Brown 54, Colin Bocking 48 no) Long Melford 226 all out (35 overs) (James Bocking 76, T. Stewart 51) Bures won by 13 runs
An 8-a-side match, with 3 Bures players defecting to Melford for the day! Poor Melford arrived with just 5 players but in the true spirit of village cricket an eight-a-side format was agreed with James Bocking, Himesh Patel and Will Clark defecting. It proved a high scoring game, with a maiden senior half century for Joe Smith and season's best of 76 for James Bocking (although sadly for the opposition!). Paul Brown, in his first game for about 10 years, weighed in with a tasty 54. The Bures total of 239 looked formidable but Melford gave it a good shot falling just 13 runs short in their allotted 35 overs. An interesting afternoon on a beautiful late-summer's day.
