Bures & District Cricket Club - Location |

Where are we? Postal Address - Bures, Suffolk CO8 5BX The club is based in the village of Bures which straddles the River Stour, the river forming the boundary between the counties of Essex and Suffolk. The cricket ground is in Suffolk although with a mighty hit, it might be possible to hit the ball into Essex! No one in living memory has ever done so, though many a ball has to be retrieved from the river. Phonetically "Bewers", our club ground epitomises everything that is good about the game of cricket as far as facilities are concerned. Actually, I just made that up! The truth is that facilities are basic but charming and comprise a thatched pavilion of which we are rather proud, practice net and less than billiard-table outfield. |
Bures vs Little Bardfield 07/09/02. Village cricket at its best - a lovely summer scene The pavilion itself dates from the 1950s and is adequately but basically furnished. It has benefited from an electricity supply only in the last few years! Traditionalists will be glad to hear that we have no intention of applying for a grant to enable us to spoil it!
