Bures & District Cricket Club
Guestbook
We will be pleased to hear from past players and acquaintances of the Club. Tales of past victories and misdemeanours are welcome! Here are extracts from those who have contacted us.....................
February 2003. Clive Baker - from Miami, Florida. Clive is the son of long time Honorary Secretary Pat Baker who passed away some 15 years ago. Pat played in the centenary match against Great Bentley (Details here) when Clive was just 11 years old. Clive played as a wicketkeeper/batsman at Bures for some years before moving abroad and has played cricket in such diverse locations as Columbia, Venezuela, Barbados & Curacao but as he says, "my roots will always be by the Stour at Bures". He vaguely remembers crawling up Station Hill, Bures after club dinners and judging by what he says, he is a regular patron in his local liquor store, where he buys Abbot Ale, Boddington's and Tetley's! Boy, how are the mighty fallen . . . .
